The Qatar General Directorate of Civil Defense (QGDCD) has recently felicitated Qatargas Emergency Management Services and Security (EMSS) Department in recognition of the Company’s collaboration with QGDCD and its commitment towards fire prevention and efforts to educate the community on Fire Safety, Fire Prevention and Emergency Response challenges.
Brigadier Aman Saad Al-Sulaiti, Assistant Director of QGDCD, has presented a certificate and memento to Hassan Abu Khamis, Qatargas EMS & Security Manager, in a ceremony at the QGDCD Headquarters on the occasion of the International Civil Defense Day.
Commenting on this recognition, Qatargas EMS & Security Manager, Hassan Abu Khamis said:
“With safety being a core value at Qatargas, we have placed much emphasis on making our premises and workplaces safe. Qatargas’ Incident and Injury Free (IIF) culture as well as our mutual and genuine care for our people and facilities encourage us to do regular emergency drills and firefighting exercises in order to ensure that we are prepared for any untoward incident. This valuable recognition from Qatar General Directorate of Civil Defense encourages us to do more in this arena.”
Qatargas was selected for the honor in recognition of its distinguished fire safety and fire prevention programs which extend beyond the Company’s operating and administrative facilities and residential compounds, to the local community. Qatargas has organised a diverse range of events throughout 2015 that promoted community awareness on fire prevention and life safety training. Moreover, it regularly conducts fire safety and fire prevention awareness sessions at local schools.
Major organizations from the oil and gas industry in the State of Qatar and high ranking officials from the Ministry of Interior and other government organisations and local authorities participated in the event, which presented an opportunity to strengthen cooperation and communication with QGDCD and network with other organizations that spared no effort in supporting fire safety and spreading awareness.
An exhibition was held in conjunction with the event, at which local agents gave presentations on the latest fire engineering technologies for workplace fire safety and fire suppression, also introduced new training technology using digital visual aids that will help organization conduct firefighting training to their employees and community in a safer and cost effective manner.
